Tredegar Trek - A Great Success
On July 10th, at 12.05pm, Chris Moles, Chris Wells and Dez Huyton arrived at the Millennium Stadium to complete a journey of 240 miles that involved 50 people and looks now like raising a potential £4500 for Save the Children. The event had started at 10am three days earlier in Leeds and involved many colleagues of Lloyds Banking Group along with their family and friends.
A core team of nine, pictured on the left, completed the key 200 mile stage between Hlaifax and Newport, many of them walking 50 miles over that two and a half day period. It was a sponsored walk not without incident. The team possibly saved a girl's life when they found her on a pavement in east Manchester at 2am. Their 999 call brought her medical help. There was a roadside barbecue on the A48 just south of Gloucester. All in all it was a very rewarding experience and hopefully it has secured much needed funding for s very worthy cause.
